Last year I made the decision to take a leap of faith and use 2018 to explore my passions and purpose.
- On December 31, 2017, I packed up all my things and moved back to Philadelphia.
- On January 8, 2018, I resigned from the only full time job I’ve ever had in my life.
- Today (February 1) is my last day.
This is an exciting, scary and humbling time for me. The decision to leave a consistent paycheck and move back home was not an easy one. However, I’m thankful to all of you that believed in me before I believed in myself. I’m thankful to my mom for being my biggest cheerleader and support system. I’m thankful too my family and friends who had my back through this challenging transition. I’m thankful for my coworkers that shared encouraging words when they found out about my pending departure. Moreover, I’m thankful for my company that positioned me to be able to go out on my own.
Since being there I was able to earn two additional degrees(beyond my bachelors), travel the world, AND acquire amazing business/technical skillsets that I can use on my own business ventures.
So what now? I’ve been asked numerous times, “CAG, are you going to follow your dreams?” Honestly, I don’t know what that even means. ? However, I’ve decided to openly share my journey with you right here on my blog; hence the reason I deleted all my old posts.
Too often we hear about people’s trials, tribulations and growing pains AFTER they have become successful. However, I plan to be honest about it while I’m going through it. Why? It is my prayer that my journey will serve as an inspiration for others that have been afraid, feel too old, or feel hopeless. “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” It is never too late to reinvent yourself or take control of your life.
On that note, WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF CAG! Buckle up because going to be a bumpy ride.
